Tanisa Adimu of Atlanta, Georgia is a mother to three sons. Originally from New Orleans, she is an advocate, activist, organizer, and public health professional. One of Tanisa’s goals is to expand conversations around health equity to include the fundamental truth of racism and its influence on health inequities and disparities.
Advocating for social change has always been intuitive for Tanisa. Growing up around and learning from influential community leaders, she has prioritized working for what people need. Working to advance racial equity is not a choice but a necessity for herself, her sons, and everyone impacted by racism. People who have been doing this work for a long time, and still have the strength and energy to keep at it, inspires Tanisa. New ideas, perspectives, and new people joining the fight give Tanisa hope. Creating, collaborating, building relationships with people, and seeing the benefits and results of the work brings Tanisa joy. To unwind and recharge, Tanisa enjoys watching mindless TV and gathering with company. |
